Job Type:
Database-Driven Web Site & Content-Management System
About This Project:
This Web site for the Public Television series Cultivating Life featured episode descriptions and segment information along with step-by-step recipes and home-and-garden projects from each week’s broadcast.
All content was database-driven and dynamically served. Program, recipe, video, and project content was completely searchable through a dynamic, intuitive keyword search.
Other site features included:
- An extensive Content Management System, a set of Web-based pages and forms the Cultivating Life team could use to add new content to the site, edit existing content, upload images, and more—all without knowing any HTML or other code.
- Video clips from the program, delivered within the Web page via Flash video.
- “Email This Page” function that allowed users to send one another recipes, projects, and other pages in fully designed HTML email postcards.
- “Print This Page” function that reformatted heavily designed pages to plain text on a white background, so that users could print recipes and project directions cleanly and legibly.
