Job Type:
Database-Driven Podcast Site
Technologies Employed:
XML, PHP, MySQL, CSS, XHTML
About This Project:
This Web site for the Perseus Books Group offers a browsable catalog of audio and video files relating to publications from the company’s various imprints. All content is database-driven and dynamically served.
Site features include:
- Comprehensive Content Management System (CMS)—a set of Web-based pages and forms that Perseus Books Group staff can use to add new content to the site, edit existing content, upload images, change homepage features, and more—all without knowing any HTML or other code. The CMS provides complete access to upload photos and jacket images and edit information about the audio and video files, book listings and bibliographic information, author biographies, homepage copy, and more.
- Three podcast series with dynamically updated XML feeds that make each series available through the iTunes store or by direct RSS subscription. Users can subscribe to these feeds to receive new podcasts automatically downloaded to their computers, iPods, iPhones, or other portable devices.
- All listings are browsable by podcast series, author, or title, and can be sorted by publication date, podcast date, alphabetically by title, alphabetically by author, and more.
